Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF50 has appeared here before but I’ve just repurchased it because I like it so much. I’m not always good at daily SPF application (I know – but, life etc) not least because I don’t like layering my face, especially in summer when it’s hot – product sweat is my bete noir.
Canmake is a Japanese brand and if you want SPF formulas that are second to none, look to a country that formulates for high humidity. The gel texture of this is so light that it’s no more onerous on the skin than a moisturiser and it has always worked well for me with foundations and tints. There are plenty of skin care ingredients in this – cherry leaf extracts, meadowsweet, bilberry and evening primrose to name a few, while the SPF elements start with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. It’s an absolute snip at £9.59 and I don’t see why you’d need to look any further for your facial SPF. This can actually be used on your body too but not sure why you would.
At the same time, I stocked up on Lip Fondants. If you haven’t used one, be prepared for how lightly you have to use them not to end up with gooey lips! I love the textures and the lip glow you get from them but don’t press hard on application. The lighter shade is Coral Pink and the deeper shade is a Water Lip SPF20 but no shade on the packaging so I’m not entire sure what it is! But, Water lip is another way of saying lip balm – it’s light on the lip and leaves just a trace of pinky red. Lip Fondues are around £5 and Water Lip is around £3 – I’m vague because I use Stylvana and prices can change – even on different shades within the same product. Stylvana always has the best choice but postage is slow – expect it to take at least a couple of weeks to arrive, if not a bit more. I don’t mind the wait – just glad to be able to get these products.
This swatch is to show you texture finish – as I say, the colour is just a trace and it shows up much better on lip pigment than pale arm pigment. The glossy finish is fondue and the more matte finish is SPF.
