If you like a ‘my skin but better’ product, the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint is going to be right up your street. Although a different ingredient list entirely, I am comparing it to CHANEL Water Tint in terms of coverage and maybe even a bit less than that.
I’ve been waiting a while to review this and get asked about it quite often on Instagram – I struggle a bit with it being £49 but Hourglass seems to be a brand that people will willingly pay over the odds for. The ingredient list is very skincare based with hyaluronic, squalane and meadowfoam seed oil (one of my favourite ingredients) so it feels hydrating on the skin but in a fairly weightless way.
I was invited to pick two shades which I found quite difficult – I picked out 7 Light Medium with warm undertones and 9 Medium with warm undertones. If you want to see the specific undertones you need to go to the Hourglass website as both SpaceNK and Sephora have been a bit lazy and not included them. I don’t think either was perfectly correct for my tone but the better one was 7.
Below is 9 above is 7. If you can’t get to try it first, I would pass because I think you need to be in a store to swatch it properly to get it right. However, if you’re confident with your Hourglass colours and you’re a fan of the brand in general, I would say this is a good buy for you for ‘Sunday make up’ – light, evening and easy to wear. SpaceNK has full stock. I must give a credit to Hourglass brushes which are really the best of the best – the Vanish Seamless is £45 and can be used for blush, foundation, highlight and tints.
