For Friday treat today, it’s over to Uniqlo. I nipped in on my way to an event and I could have spent an absolute fortune…the teddy coats are back (I still have last year’s and the year’s before) but there is a fleece-teddy hybrid coat that is absolutely gorgeous. I’m using my awkward shop selfies so you can see for fit:
In my view, it’s not quite as cuddly as the previous soft coats I’ve had from Uniqlo and it’s also not bulky but the shape is lovely. I’m wearing Medium in this and it’s roomy in a good way – you can get a thick jumper on underneath if you wish.
You can nip it in at the waist a bit if you wish (I wouldn’t) – the pull is located on the inside of the coat which looks grey but it’s the same black as the outside. It comes in a camel colour too.
This is the model pic from the website. They call it Pile Lined Fleece Stand Collar Coat and the collar is quite a draw to be honest. It’s £59.90 . I haven’t bought it yet but it’s only a matter of time before I give in. I might as well do it now really. All sizes from XS to XXL.
Next up, a new variant of the world’s most useful crossbody bag. As you can see, you don’t have to wear it crossbody. This is a larger version in a faux leather – in the second picture you can see the size difference because I’m wearing both. Having just bought a new bag, I didn’t buy it straight away – I waited til I walked back from the event and went back into Uniqlo. So, I lasted about an hour before deciding I really needed to have it! The smaller bags now come in corduroy, £14.90, if you want to season upgrade your existing crossbody.
It’s also perfect for carrying Dora about! I think she likes it – hard to tell ;-). It’s funny that Uniqlo are calling this a shoulder bag – it’s not. It’s £24.90 and will probably be your most useful accessory for winter – hands free is a blessing in a bag.
My next purchase is this off-white sweater – I love it because the roll neck isn’t too high. It’s a cotton blend and truly very soft, the wool content is 4% so even if you get itchy with wool, I think this would be an exception. It has acrylic and polymide and I think we have come on in major strides with synthetics of late – I don’t like to buy wool because it’s so temperamental in the washing machine. At least with cashmere I can commit to hand washing but not a £34 jumper although Uniqlo does recommend hand washing it (no!). I will take my chances on a wool wash.
This is the model pic – there are several colours – if you wear blue, take a look at those because they have a fleck in them which is really very nice indeed. It’s £34.90 and exactly the kind of sweater I want on a chilly day with jeans.
The Chiffon Pleat Skirts are beautiful – I just didn’t have time to try them on – there are several colourways but I’d choose the brown I think. Just add chunky boots or trainers, shirt, jumper or vest – I’m 5ft 3ins and on me they hit just below mid calf so the length is perfect unless you’re super tall. These skirts are very graceful, very light feeling and an elastic waist is my dream! I styled it up in-store with a cashmere vest (thank you ;-))). The skirt is £39.90 and the vest top, which comes in three colourways (pink, black and cream as seen) is £59.90 . I could have stayed in the store for hours longer but probably just as well that I didn’t. Most sizes are still available.
