[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Even though I am very much not a hugger, on this occasion I’m tempted to invite them in purely so you can feel my skin after last night’s thorough revamp. I take skin supplements – Advanced Nutrition Skin Omegas, which keep any dry skin at bay but I ran out a few weeks ago and thought I’d just leave it to see if they’re really making the difference I think they are. Sure enough, once out of my system my shins and arms were dry as sticks and it was time to take topical action.

I kicked off with Mio’s Heavenly Body Purifying Scrub which to my mind is the very best you will find. I spent a day with the Mio gang a couple of year’s ago doing some consultancy and brought it back home with me as well as getting some resupplies – I actually forgot about it until this tub turned up in my tidying and never have I felt more grateful to discover a ‘lost’ product. It’s in weird, temporary packaging but yours would look like this:

It’s currently an unbelievable £9.20 (I have only just discovered this while checking for a stockist link) reduced from £23. I wouldn’t hesitate. It’s a very finely grained salt scrub boosted with almond and coconut oils. Apply it to damp skin and work over arms and legs before rinsing off. I was doing something of a jig while doing this because Dora got into the bathroom and thought it was the most delicious thing she’d ever tasted.

Next up, I dragged out my precious SLMD (from Sandra Lee, aka Dr Pimple Popper) Glycolic Acid Body Lotion which is no longer available in the UK so I eke this one out very carefully. Great, and accessible alternatives are The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Stick, £15 , or Drunk Elephant Glycolic Body Lotion, £28 . Take your time on this to make sure you’re working it into your skin well – it does make a difference. Glycolic acid is top for munching up dead skin cells and leaving softer, fresher skin behind. If you’re sensitive, try The Inkey List PHA Body Lotion, £13 , which is a gentler way to achieve the same result.

Finally, the following morning I applied L’Occitane Supple Skin Oil, £40 , which made my skin smell as delicious as a fresh almond croissant. Less expensively, you can achieve the same, minus the patisserie vibe, with Byoma Nourishing Body Oil, £14.99 for 200ml . While I can’t wholeheartedly encourage a full on smoosh and body feel, you’re welcome to stroke my arms (briefly) if you see me!
