It’s ZIIP HALO time again! I’ve been at several industry events recently and the ZIIP HALO is quite the topic of conversation – in a good way, of course. I get asked a lot what it’s ‘really’ like to use and it is just exactly as I say – easy and effective. In fact, it’s the most effective beauty tool I’ve used and one that you can use on occasion or as an ongoing beauty treatment. I feel like I’ve told you so much of this device’s capabilities so this time I’m going to focus on how well the ZIIP HALO helps skin to absorb your skin care.

While you can, in theory, use any conductive gel you like (and you must use a conductor gel every single time), because the ZIIP HALO‘s electrical currents help to move the conductive gel through the skin (fancy word coming up – the process is called electroosmosis) it’s obvious that the better ingredients you have going through this process, the better it will be for your skin, especially as we are talking in the region of 120% extra absorption. In addition, the currents create (very) temporary pores in the complexion which maximises the absorption of what key ingredients are in the gels.

Although the Core gel comes with the device when you purchase it, personally, I’m drawn to the Silver Gel because it has ingredients I like (hyaluronic acid, cucumber extracts and aloe) and it focuses on skin hydration. Everything is better if your complexion is fully hydrated – make up goes on better, it looks and feels bouncy and soft and my top tip is to do this treatment in the evening before bed and use a barrier moisturiser over the top while you sleep so you lose absolutely not one drop of the hydration you’ve delivered. It’s a next level skin day to follow! I know several people who have bought the Clear gel for their teen boys and reluctantly share their device because it contains a key ingredient called Dendriclear™. On researching, I see that dendrimers are being hailed as a next generation active to work on the skin’s microbiome by rebalancing the (new word to me) acnebiome. It also contains mint, cucumber and aloe vera for a fresh and soothing feel. It’s interesting how conductor gels have evolved to feel less like functional conductor gels and more like skin care.

I’m not all in for skin perfection – that unattainable goal – but we’re becoming so much more focussed on sun damage which is a) preventable and b) manageable if it already exists. I mean, we all have it to some degree and that is just life but generations behind us are far more educated on SPFs and use them conscientiously but ZIIP HALO can help with ATP stimulation, the key to repair for those of us who want a more even tone. What is ATP I hear you ask?! I’ll do my best to unscience the science. ATP is short for the molecule adenosine triphosphate – think of it as a rechargeable battery for the body because it exists within all living cells and what it needs most is energy to power cellular processes. In skin, ATP helps cells to function at their best while giving antioxidant protection. When you use the ZIIP Halo, you’re re-energising the ATP – or recharging the battery – that boosts cell function. Circling back around to sun damage, because you’ve recharged using microcurrents and nanocurrents which work together, your skin is better able to kick into repair mode, particularly in areas of damage. You may even find that over time particular areas of damage – dark marks – begin to fade.

Up to now, I’ve just used the Core gel but I’m very tempted by Silver because it seems like the workhorse of the options. In my view, ZIIP HALO is the easiest of all facial devices to use – not least because it’s so small but also because it’s actually engaging. I have a low patience threshold and want results NOW but I find that following the directions from the app becomes almost meditative and I enjoy it.
